A typical session will begin in lotus pose with a few minutes of relaxation and breathing exercises to prepare the student mentally and physically for the more demanding asanas (poses) and vinyasa (flow between poses) that follow.  The majority of the class is spent performing asanas to increase strength, flexibility and balance.

 

The certified Yoga professional will assess the  students' capabilities and modifies the flow or gives hands on modifications to the poses to enhance training/safety.  After the asanas, a few minutes are spent working on abdominal muscles and stretching.  The last few minutes of every class are spent in savasana (corpse pose) to slow the heart rate, calm the mind, and prepare the student to enter the world refreshed.
